Centre for European Business Studies and the conference on Indo-EU Conf.

Subsequent to my earlier post which talked a bit about the Conference on Implications of Indo-EU FTA, some more info is posted!!


The Objective of this conference was to :

  • Discuss the implications of the FTA
  • Provide insights to policy makers and business entities
  • Discuss impact of FTA on the overall industry
  • Discuss sector specific implications for finance, automobile & textile sector


PGCIM was actively involved in the coordinating the whole conference along with the good support from PGDM. The event was very successful and created a lot of  positive stir.

The conference was scheduled on 26-27 Nov. at the famous Trident Hotel in Mumbai. The timing of conference was chosen so that SPJIMR and ESB want to create something positive and progressive between India and EU. All the sessions went full house. Many industry stalwarts attended the session and like the level of discussions that took place. Some of the prominent attendees were:

  • Peter Young, Counsellor, Head of Trade and Economic Affairs, Delegation of the European Union to India

  • Shubhada Rao, Executive Vice President Chief Economist, Yes Bank

  • Thilo Bischoff, VP-Business and Markets. South Asia, BASF
  • Senior Members from Industry associations like FICCI and CITI

Background for CEBS:

The Centre for European Business Studies  (CEBS)  is a joint centre of ESB Business School of Reutlingen University in Germany and S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai, India. It was inaugurated in November 2009 by Baden-Württemberg’s then Minister President (Chief Minister) and  current EU Commissioner, Günther Öttinger. CEBS intends to enhance Indo-European understanding, academic exchange and business awareness.
